sorry your right, I didn't fully understand. I'm a forklift mechanic so haven't come across four wheel drive before. If I jack one wheel up and put it in neutral with the handbrake on I can turn the wheel with a strong arm but it does need some force. I've jacked each wheel up in turn and you can feel each half shaft is connected to the diff so they're not snapped.

I'm not so sure his VCU is good.... he is saying here he can turn the wheel by hand? I thought with an on-spec VCU, you need a bloody long bar on a wheelnut, and a lot of force applied over time to turn it at all... something like 90lb/f constantly applied for a minute will turn the wheel through 90 deg?? No way you could apply that amount of force directly on the wheel by hand...

+1 on your tyres being not so good in mud... having proper mud tyres or deep-tread ATs makes all the difference in mud...
