Ok some say that I'm mad and some know that I am, but I've just bought my second Freelander. My first was a 2000 1.8 s I had heard all the horror stories but I already had a MGF so I was aware of its problems, well it turned out to be a absolute peach of a car, never missing a beat doing everything I asked of it the only thing I did to it other than servicing was to fit a 52mm throttle body. So back to now well I've now bought a 2002 td4 gs I can only think the previous owner got fed up of spending money on it as it came 140k miles 12 months MOT, 4 new tyres, new rear exhaust, viscous coupling and bearings and new calipers, the bodywork is excellent the interior has a badly torn drivers seat and is filthy but nothing that a good valeting wouldn't put right and it needs only 1 window cable I've found a replacement seat (£20) and done the clean up and it now stands quite proudly on my drive so for £900 I don't think I've done too bad. My only complaint with it is a drumming/resonance which starts at around 3000rpm yes it's annoying but I'll keep checking for anything loose so far I haven't found anything, so after we get back from holidays I'll keep checking when I have more time but until then it's got some work to do towing our caravan.
