My front prop rattles on over run, is this transfer box related?

Hello folks, i have done a search to try and find a thread suitable but i can't find anything.

On over run on my 300tdi manual, i get a grrrr grrrr grrrr from my front prop, now the other week i had no front prop on, drove in RWD and it was great, very nice to drive and quiet.

refitting new prop and its back, does this sound like a transfer box issue? say, too much play in a front bearing?

possibly ,but front diff is worth a look worn pinion bearings show on overrun

Thank you, the front diff is the original so i may swap it for a replacement as its the easier of the 2 jobs, Thank you

Is there more play up and down in the front diff flange than the rears diff. That what happened when my pinion bearing went. Best to buy a second hand one cus there more complicated to rebuild than u think.
