My first defender and questions

Hi everyone, I recently bought myself a 1993 200tdi 110 CSW. mostly stock too.
The vehicle has the usual of rust spots but overall is in good condition.
The only problem is, its lacking in the security department. So I put these questions to people with experience. I don't have a huge budget but it is top priority.
Firstly how much security should I put on? Layered?
What immobilizers and tracking do you recommend?
Is it possible to install central locking?
Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Datatag/etch all primary components
Multiple carefully setup Bisley Alarms
Internal & external CCTV
Keep in secure garage, not on road/driveway
Buy a pair of permanently hungry Doberman who sleep in truck

Think I've covered the basics, there are more sophisticated deterrents...and be sure to tell your insurance company of the security upgrades

Yes I see and hear spits every half hour, due to the experience flights.

how much security should I put on? Layered?

claymore mines under seats, will stop theft but probably cause a little re-modeling of your landyo_O

Smartwater is a waste of time, it doesn't bring your Land Rover back and relies on your Land Rover being found first and the police looking for it. .
Immobilisers are a waste of time on a tdi, they are very simple to circumnavigate.
Disc locks on the steering wheel are a reasonable deterrent and a reasonable obstacle.
Pedal locks are a reasonable obstacle, but less visible.
Bar type steering wheel locks are a waste of time as are the traditional crook-locks and handbrake locks.
Trackers are cheap and offer the best chance of finding your Land Rover if it goes missing.
 
Evening everyone, just an update on progress. I'll be getting certain security systems you suggested, so thank you.
but now on to the next question... tyres. my vehicle currently has the standard 5.5" steel rims, it already has 2 Michelin latitudes crosses on the rears. however sourcing three more for the front and the spare is proving difficult due to the inches to metric differences and reputable sellers. so again any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Pretty much all cars run rims with sizes stated in imperial sizes, BMW tried metric years ago, didnt go well and proved very unpopular.
But 5.5 is a pretty skinny rim, so just easrch for the tyres by the size printed on the tyre sidewalls rather than by make.

Wolf rims arent dear, 236/85/16 are a popular tyre size.
Most of the time 4x4 owners buy tyres on looks rather that performance stats.
 
TOAD with microwave set to 1ft perimeter warning and a thing that sets the alarm off if someone tilts it on rear wheels.
