Yup - ‘nuff said! Shame it’s a commercial otherwise I’d have been interested: want to be able to take the kids on landing and off-road adventures. It’s otherwise a really nice truck!
Will chuck in a disco converted Range Rover classic interior. Bolts holes all there for rear seats and seat belts
Yep looking forward to hopefully using it this weekend

Bought it at the right time.
Didn’t use it mind, gave it to the missus.
Fortunately even with knackered brakes it’s even getting her to work.
Where as I used the van to trundle to work at 6am yesterday.
Then been in the truck ever since. No doubt all the snow will have gone by the time I get back

Managed to get some white action on Friday night.
Took the van out with two other disco’s looking for stranded motorists to help out.
Home by 2am and at work 6am lol

Up early today to sort out this 40kgs box.
Lots of shiny.
V8 calliper carriers to allow for larger discs
Bearmach drilled and grooved discs
Ebc green stuff pads
Guy at work kindly offered his help and 3500kgs ramp for the day
So on to the task in hand
Can’t think why this one was getting noisy.
New vs old carriers
Hub cleaned and prepped for new brakes
New vs old
Discs and carriers on
And pads
Wind back tool in action
And first side done!
Then drivers side
Ok I’ll admit the pads are a little low
Whoops
Old vs new
Think these should be good for a while
And done, this side only took 45 minutes with photos and cup of tea. Very pleased with that.
And the result is no more grinding noises
Gotta bed the pads in for a couple of hundred miles but then should be able to do endo’s

Also while the wheels were off had a butchers at the suspension because I heard the airbag have a built date stamped on them.
Well that’ll be the original suspension from new on 174,000 miles now.
Probably gonna be looking at new airbags this year then money depending.

Thought I’d get the IID tool setup on the laptop

bet it now stops better , lol
is suprising how much the gap iid does and the main ecu reflash is nerve racking as all the lights go on and off etc
indeed those airbags are original, ive only managed to get my drivers side front strut replaced , too cold and will wait til it’s warmer to do the passenger side , when i do that side will grease up the turbo actuator , replace intercooler hoses with silicone ones i’ve got and fill in areas with some more dinotrol
i was amazed at the difference with just the drivers side and the bottom bush was knackered , i have bought all new anti roll bar bushes and drop links for the front and rear, the heavy duty meyle ones as the cheap ones will just snap
i bought genuine dunlop struts and i’ve always done preventive maintenance, no point leaving something till it breaks , i’m not looking forward to the rear upper wishbones that’s for sure
great you’ve got access to a ramp and makes life considerably easier

u can fit different bushes but then u would have a firmer ride , it’s the compromise between longtivity vs ride quality
plus don’t forget they weigh over 2.7 ton so brakes and suspension will indeed be put under a lot of stress
there’s 24 x of them as they have a double wishbone system

Just wondering about the airbags - if they ain't broke, why fix?
Yes plenty to try and figure out.
Unsure with the suspension. Sometimes to me it does feel a bit wallowing but it’s a massive 4x4 so might be I’m expecting too much of it as apposed to an actual fault.
But also the struts look very rusty indeed.
Yes pedals come up a bit now. Once bed in be able to stop in a six pence I reckon.
I need to do a lot more reading to understand what it all does and how to update the software.
Probably hold off for now as still need to do rear upper arms and wheel alignment.
Yes drop links will get done with the struts I reckon. Hopefully can get at least a pair done this year.
The ramp really does help a lot. I don’t mind working on a driveway but mine is shingle just just makes everything a pain in the arse.
Warm, dry workshop with ramp and tonnes of tools wins hands down
Yes, I know - it's a big heavy beast of a machine.
I was watching one of Andrew St Pierre White's 4xOverland YouTube videos - he's probably marmite, but I like that he expresses an informed opinion whether you like it or not. He liked the Disco 1 (although it was too small for him), panned the original Disco 2 (technology for technology's sake with the deletion of the locking centre diff and its substitution of TC and HDC), and seems genuinely impressed by the Disco 4.
Two problems he highlighted: low-profile tyres that destroy their sidewalls (especially if you lower inflation pressures for traction) and that it becomes very expensive to maintain if you use it extensively off road... All of which I find quite interesting.
Most of the Disco 3's/ 4's I've seen up for sale generally have significant mileages (170+k miles is not unusual) - so they're good for general car use, but is a criticism for becoming seriously expensive to maintain if used off road deserved?
