more pic's when its fitted.

I got mine from duckworth landrover they do mail order on line, they did take longer to come and first lot were missing bits and they said they were on back order then so wasn't the greatest buying experience.

Question for anyone looking, do the roof rail extensions fit a D1 300? or should I buy the D2 Rails and fit or should I make up my own from a front set. It looks like the D2 roof is double skinned/reinforced for the Rear rails. I am looking for a neat solution for carrying the odd sheet of 8x4 for home DIY without adding weight high up.

Buy an 8x4 trailer, I find them very, very useful. Had one for about 6yrs now and use it every week - saves putting mucky stuff in the car.

A D2 is longer than a D1 so may be a prob there I can measure the extentions for you if you want, other thing you'll need to look to see if your D1 frontr rails have rubber bungs in the back of them.

Thanks Steve I will check when I am home from work ( which will be end of Feb!) I reckon that with the length thing I may be better Modding some D1 Front rails to fit the rear. I think the extended rails improve the roof line. Thanks for the info and great thread as well.

I hate to be the one to ask, but....

What size tyres are they?

I'm looking at getting 245/75/16's for mine, but haven't seen them anywhere else on a Disco. Yours look about right :) Great build btw, liking that bumper a lot and I now know how to get to my faulty fuel gauge sender, so thanks.

Tyres are standard 255 / 65 R16 but with 30mm wheel spaces. If I was replacing them i'd go for 255 70 R16 I think. whick wouldn't prob be far off your size, Are you lifting it or staying standard height suspension?

Thanks for that.

My standard tyres are 235/70R16, they just look lost on the car. Suspension is staying standard as its my everyday car, the 101 is for having the fun in :D I do need some all terrains though as the road tyres don't like the mud or snow much at all  Some extra ground clearance is also needed as the tow hitch likes to attack the road every now and then

I think the thread is really interesting for showing anyone that a damaged and abused car can reach excellent condition. Quality of work is great and you should be proud of it..

Thanks, hopefully its built to last too, the last owner had one of his workers deliver it to me and he saw it last week and asked if it was the same one and came had a good look round it.

I just put 245/75 r16s on my unmodified D2. Steel modulars and bigger tyres fit the arches nicely. Had to chop a tiny bit off my mudflaps at the inside of each front arch but that was simple enough.

Great build thread btw!!

small update,

Made a little bracket for the split charge reply,

Then made some conduit to run along the bulk head with the fuel and air con pipes, As you can see my first effort didnt go to well but I was able to use it as a template.
