That's too weak, and Varta is full of sh*t, i had one stronger that that and failed in the second winter... a D2 Td5 needs at least 850CCA/110AH... as was the factory fited one, the stroger the better but never weaker.

It;s higher cos the Varta is too small for a D2 as i said so dont use it as comparison, also maybe you didnt listen cos that enduroline in your link is weak as well being 70AH, i doubt that tanya woud recommend that for a Td5 cos they recommend this https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/enduroline/c31-1000/... i recommend this https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/bulletbatt/c31-1000/ which i have and it survived 4 hard winters already
 
...and just to finish off on my dodgy alternator story, once I got it to the garage the guy tested it and said it was not quite right but it would be OK to get me from Normandy to Bournemouth. So off I set. Of course the channel ferry got us in at night so I had to drive the 40 odd miles from Portsmouth in the dark. The lights got dimmer and dimmer, the ignition light was flickering and the power in the engine seemed to be slowly dying too. I was sure I would have to pull over to the hard shoulder and call for assistance to get myself and 16 students back home when all of a sudden everything came back on full power, lights bright, engine picked up and we got back to school no problems. Don't know how that could have happened, maybe a brush spring suddenly popped into place. I am not religious, but if I was I think my guardian angel finally woke up and helped out. (The alternator was changed the following day).

Balls, I’ve been had!!!! They are literally a perfect fit, if it lasts well it’s great value for money. Think it was one of your posts I found while looking for what to buy. Old battery was absolutely fine but this is noticeably more powerful.
 
I will get powerful battery as recommended by sierrafery. Is it worth to try to confirm if the alternator is faulty again with it? Would it damage the battery if the regulator of the alternator is damaged?

So U haven’t confirmed yet that your alternator is healthy or not, the same with your existing battery, it’s simples test is best :rolleyes:

Not in the short time you need to measure the voltage but if it's not OK disconnect that battery cos it will be drained down or if it passes the voltage test but it's drained over night replace the alternator

In theory, regulator has high input impedance measured from its output. If it is blown, the input impedance would drop to near zero, i. e. short for battery unless alternator has protection mechanism , this is my concern.
