Balancing weights clipped to the rim on of readers, ESPECIALLY us silly boys running 10" rims, are really a waste of time, because they last about 5 minutes off road before they fall off.

You really do need to balance them if possible because these ****ers give the worst death wobble.

I use DYNABEAD which does sort out little vibrations at 65mph but they only way to get round death wobble (which tries to total my car everytime is touch 45mph) is to have over tight swivels, solid panhard rod, new bushes regularly, constant steering box adjust, new steering column to eliminate play etc etc, defender steering damper...

It really is a bugger so get ready for it!!

Also, having been there myself, you are better brush painting it. Remove the windows etc to make a nice job, but then when you scratch it to **** you don't feel heartbroken, in fact it's almost comical to see how much paint damage you can get (just to clarify, I HATE panel damage/dents) because you know it's easy to paint over.

Just my recommendations :)

you need a single pack poly, designed for brushing.

i bought some stuff off ebay, in the marathon coatings tin. just search land rover paint or whatever.

anyway some brush paint will be ok. i bought 5 litre for about 25 quid i think. 2 litres is enough to paint a disco, so lets just say i have plenty spare :D

I read an interesting article in LROI October 2012 'Repaint Your Land Rover' which describes the techniques, prep and materials to use for painting with a roller, brush and spray can. Price for paints and materials £150. Even tells you which rollers to buy...

**** me £150?! Or is that for like a coach painted finish??

I found that rollering BRUSH paint gave bubbles, so i brushed it. Well, WE brushed it.

Took 3 lads about 3 hours to do.

Naturally i used the big brush :D

Yeah, bubbles are the thing with rollers but the technique in the article shows you how to stop that happening. I'll scan the 4 page article later and post it here.
