and cut out the rotten underside. Note the corner angles are thin too as this is where the rust gets a hold; in the gap between the angle and the sheet. Was always going to be a problem. Crap!

This was my first go at MIG welding since college and it was not easy upside down. Made a mess of it in places and had to do more grinding than I would have liked, but wanted it to be sound and to look decent. I wanted an MOT after all.
 
I decided to replace the whole of the inside face on the offside rail. I cut and drilled the replacement to fit before cutting away the rotting sections

 
that was a fantastic thread. pictures say so many words.
and very relevant for me as I also have a d2.........
which I`m sure in time will need something similar.
