Hello!
Last year a mechanic replaced my calipers, discs, brake pads etc (from Paddocks) on my 1995 110 CSW, but after 5000 miles they still squeal. The brake pads I used were Delphi Lockheed STC1601AP and STC2952AP. He said that copper grease or shims would not work, because the new brake pads now have rubber on the back. He suggested a softer pad.
Anybody have any suggestions or point me in the right directions, because I am at a lost.

Thank you

Z

The squeal is caused by metal rubbing against metal, or the back plate of the pad rubbing or vibrating against the face of the pistons.

A couple of shimms with copperslip between their meeting faces and the pad and the pistons should sort out the problem

Thanks, will give it a shot.
Does anybody have a part number for the shims?

606688 x4

but thats fronts only,

if you have drums on the rear i have no idea but as 110 i dont think there are any shims, but you may need to change teh pad return springs and pins

Ice always found copalsip just doesnt last, normal grease works just as well no matter what the scare mongers say, quality pads seem to help.
The newer pads do indeed have a coating on the back that sort of glues the pads to the pistons dampening any vibes works well and you can buy it off of ebay on its own.
Other thing that helps is a nice tapered leading edge on the friction material
