i changed the front brake pads on my 200 tdi just over 2 weeks ( and 500 miles ) ago and ever since the drivers side disc gets so hot under even gentle braking it turns blue and smoke comes from the pads  .it got so bad today that my brakes faded like hell and i had to throw water ofover them cos they were smoking so much
iv lifted the wheel off the floor and the brakes are not binding in fact when i drive up hill and let gravity stop me the front discs are stone cold  . . i know they were cheap pads but its only the drivers side that does it and it dont even pull to any side under braking .
i aint had chance to get the wheel off yet cos of this ****ty weather but can anyone point me in the right direction ? thanks

Hi,
some time ago I had a similar problem , turned out that the side that was heating up
was ok the problem was on the other side, where, after pushing back the pistons in the
caliper to accomodate the new pads one of the pistons had locked up transfering more
of the 'hydraulic effort' onto the good side, causing to get hot.I renewed the dodgy caliper, but it is possible to service them with new pistons and seals.I too did not
notice the vehichle pulling to one side, but put that down to the rugged construction
of the steering system. Hope this is of some help
