Yeah sorry, found the link on another post of yours as I worked down the page!

Have you tried the other features they go on about in the listing such as various trip economies, 0-60 etc?

Not yet. Been a little bit busy with work. It will be a few days yet before I get to play. Top of my list is the cold car..... I have a gates thermostat waiting to be fitted now. Just need some free time in the daylight. Maybe Saturday.

Hopefully the economy will improve with the engine running at its proper temperature.

I drove about 100 miles around London today, but stopping 6 times to carry out various work related activities. Never went over about 74c and most of the tine was under 70c. But the mpg showing was around 35mpg or so average, so not too bad for an auto around London. But it seems that my best investment so far has been my Tom Tom GO 6000. The traffic built in has saved me hours so far by avoiding sitting in traffic queues!!!! Average speed was about 19mph. But I did use the A13/M25/A2 so I ended up cruising at around about 50mph, where the fuel economy seems to be around 50mpg on the level.

The Yeti would do that at 60mph.....

Do those traffic avoidance things actually work nowadays? I had one of the early things like that by Garmin and it never worked properly. I want something that automatically reroutes me as it knows there is a traffic jam ahead (on M-ways and major A roads like the bloody A34) and diverts me along a sensible route.

How does it get the signal to tell it there may be trouble ahead? I need to be ready to face the music and dance.. ;)

On Tom Tom's traffic is excellent. I believe it gets it from other Tom Tom users and Vodafone mobiles.

My unit has a sim built in so I don't have to worry about pairing it every time etc.

Tom Tom traffic is vastly superior to Garmins version I understand.

So with a SIM built in you would need a separate phone contract for it? Or can it connect to your phone? Would this stop me using my bluetooth headset to answer calls?

No contract. No connection to any phone. Cost included in cost of unit I guess. It costs about. £60-£80 more than the GO 600 which connects to your phone, and lasts the lifetime of the unit with lifetime maps as well. All I have to pay for is cameras if I want them after 90 days.

I switch bit on. It connects to Tom Tom serviced and shows up all the traffic problems. It was great again tonight.

Hmm.. thanks, I might look into that one then. I was going to go for a double din unit with built in satnav, but not so sure now as this feature would be a million times more useful if it works!

I was going down that route...

But....

Hold the steering wheel at 3 & 9 or 2 & 10......

Then try and look down and tell me what you can see.

Not a lot.

It is far to low, and not in my line of sight. A decent one with free updates (Kenwood) has all the goodies and a decent size 6.5" screen, but it is too far away. It is even lower than my Yeti, which wasn't great, but the Yeti did display instructions between the tacho & speedo on the maxidot.

:rolleyes::D:D:D

Oh, and tom tom has updated the firmware twice recently adding more functionality than the original reviews.
Yeah I agree about the bad stereo location but must admit that was the main reason for going for the facelift, that and the cup holders on the dash that I need arm extensions for. At least on my VW T5 van it is a good location, so that can still have one! Anyway, spent a lot of tonight reading about them and also the app for Android and oh dear, it isn't well reviewed is it? Do you say they've updated and sorted the issues now? One thing it has done is made me research the dreaded update to Google Nav on the phone, which also wiped out most of the good features of before (WHY do they always do this??) and found out HOW to actually select alternate routes etc. Still can't seem to choose multi stops though, but it does seem to have Traffic now. Hmm... I shall check that out tomorrow as me and the missus are taking the Freelander to it's natural home (that south coast ****hole called Brighton) and there's BOUND to be accidents, roadworks etc.... I'll report back. I'll also report on how many Freelanders v/s Defenders I see in that there town.. ;):D:D:boink:

Nice.. I really like those 3 spokes! Shame you can't get good dirty 17" tyres... Are they Grabber UHPs on the 17s? If so, what are they like in the winter and muck?

Is your lift kit fitted yet? Looks quite high but not quite sure

No. The ground to bottom of sill clearance has gone from about 252 to 248mm at the front jacking point, and from 264 to 260 at the rear.

The tyres are smaller, should be 65's whereas they are 60's, which is why it looks taller.

The lift kit goes on this week.
