Hey!...looks like you got a nice one there!...ill be down there in around 9 days time to find one out, cant wait to get down there now.How much of the price did you have to put down on your deposit?you obviously paid the balance up in full on return for the 110?
Im still going to get them to MOT & Tax my choice to bring back home, along with the registering & stuff,so its easier for me to do,i dont know anybody with trade plates or anything to get it back on the day i go,so ill have to leave it for them to sort it all out for me,but what a cracker there!...well impressed.:)

I had to put a £250 deposit down, and yeh, paid the rest when I picked it up. Fair enough for getting them to do it, I'm just too impatient and had trade plates so just went to get it, also money is very tight now so needed to save as much as possible.

good luck with looking! Wish I could go back up there and get one again, such a fun place.

I am also hopefully going to oxford today to register it, I've got everything except the confirmation of when it was made from Land Rover

Hope you get winston registered ok!
If the one i go for has the SA80 brackets in you are more than welcome to them as long as you pay the postage/courier fees matey.:)
Ill be fitting either a 3rd seat or cubby box in mine,im looking to get down there possibly thursday/friday next week...really looking forward to it!!!!

thanks for that, hopefully you will have them in yours as I am desperate to get 'um back in, but got a feeling they take them out of all of them.

todays update, been to the DVLA in oxford and handed everything over, couldn't have been more simple even if one tried.. just gotta wait a couple of days for confirmation of my numberplate and I'm away!

The weather is looking nice, so thought I'd take off the canvas top, heres how we got on...

It had this thin plastic cover on the roof, not attached to the canvas, so when you take it off there is another roof type bit, pretty cleaver I thought, don't know if they all have that?

Nice looking 110, mine was released this summer from Withams. Looks like the same condition as yours. Mine had a refurb engine (less then 5k miles), new exhaust, new suspension, new brakes and brake lines, new tyres and new front end.

Great write up on your experience. When you haggled how much did they flex on price?

Scott

I can't remember exactly, but think it was something along the lines of knocking from down to (without VAT) so then VAT added it remained at the original

I did very well with my 110, and still can't stop smiling at what I was able to get, yes, sounds exactly the same. I was able to keep the service records from the date it went into service, 24th August 1987 and the records state EVERYTHING that happened to my 110, It belonged in the TA so was rarely used.. great for me!

So I thought that I would give you all an update, for those who are interested anyway! In terms of Winston, the only thing I've had to do is replace the alternator as I got a little over enthusiastic with the old power hose in the engine bay one afternoon. Lesson learnt.

I've been doing loads with Winston, and after the horror stories of stealing Land Rovers I added a load of security I tried having him down in Brighton with me at uni, but discovered 2 pikeys one evening making their way into the truck, so swiftly returned him back home and chained to a tree.

Pictures are attached, I've got nothing technical to show due to him being ultra reliable and I've done many many happy miles with no problems. I drove him one afternoon a nice 300 mile round trip down to Cornwall, didn't skip a beat.

enjoy!

Being the photographer that I am, I've been photographing him like there is no tomorrow, this is one of the test shoots I did, a rough sketch of the real shot, I'm not uploading the real thing due to people stealing images, but you get the idea
