Now's the time for all you old timers to laugh at me.

How do I get the wheel thing off (blue arrow) so I can release the bolt (red arrow) to get the front off the engine?????



I am trying to make it as light as possible so we can lift it out but I can't stop it spinning...........

id ues a battery or air gun, so no need to lock pulley ,but if using a bar wedge a chisel or bar in ring gear on flywheel

or whip sump off and wedge a lump of 2x4 against crank

Is starter motor still fitted if so put spanner on nut wedge spanner on chassis and turn the engine over with the starter motor.

or put it into a high gear to stop crank turning with handbrake on, that's how I did mine

Low gear, handbrake and a gurt big spanner and FBH. Watch out when you slide it off there's a half-moon key in the shaft that is easy to drop into the sump. IIRC its at the top when the engine's at TDC on #1 which helps to not lose it...
