Just realised that my MOT is due on tuesday.

Yesterday I burst a tyre and won't have time to get it changed so I am running on the spare.

Can anyone tell me if I need a spare for the test or am I best to leave it off the car?

Thanks

mine just failed on emissions . but the mot man did not even look under spare whell cover at spare .got retest tuesday now i got injector cleaner in no smoke . he also said reversin lights dont come into mot good luck on urs

Take out air filter, run it down the motorway in 4th gear for a couple of miles then straight into mot station.
We used to do that on the taxis i used to run.
Also always took the car through a decent car wash, one that does underneath as well, stops them looking for silly things like a weeping shocky,as its soaked anyway.

mine normally gives a puff of smoke on start up but blimey never revved it as high as mot bloke .were do we stand legally if mot man blew the engine up ???????????

The responsibility is all yours should the engine fail. They are required by law to rev the engine to that degree whilst testing, they should tell you or ask you if the engine is good and warm before they carry out the test, always drive a few miles before taking a diesel in for test.

On another issue, if you have a cracked windscreen that would fail an MOT you can take it out entirely and it will pass!!!

well mine failed to day...

1 crack in windscreen.
2 one of the front breaks not up so spec.
3 missing rear number plate light, ther was the other one still. I asked why it failed and he said because it was not working, I said well it is not there and there is a second one. He said if there should be one then it must be there to pass.
