Evnin. Have my MOT booked for tomorrow, but as always with landy's u fix one thing, then another fault appears. My speedo became intermitant today , now not rising at all. All other gauges fine. Also rear wiper and washer dont work. So is any of these an MOT failure? Oh and the reverse light switch is worn sa need to hold lever in reverse for light to stay on. :-(

Rear wiper and washer and reverse lights won't fail a mot to my knowledge. The speedo I should imagine is a fail but you never know if they will see it!! I had a Megane years ago with a speedo fault and they never saw it.

rightly or wrongly. i`ve been under the impression that you need a speedo to pass the mot. but that its never checked to see that it actually does work.
thats my experience of 30 odd years of mot`s on bikes and cars.

I haven't a clue what the tester gets up to, and really not interested.
It goes in, tested and comes out with a pass. :D

As for a speedometer working, it only has to be looked at when the vehicle is driven into the garage test area, if the needle hasn't moved at walking pace then something is wrong.

Good luck, as I have just gone through the worry at the beginning of the week ;)

Oh, if you want a new reverse switch, let me know, as I bought one thinking my Diff lock switch was duff, but it ended up being a snapped connection wire at the spade connector - so give me a shout.

Well FAILED and dont even get me started on the council MOT station. It needs welded just before the o/s rear body mount,at the junction between the rear arch and inner and outer sill. Where:(:( to start? Oh and the front wheel bearing has too much play.

Mine failed on the front bearing so i replaced it,still had play.Turned out to be the swivel pin bearing.I removed 4-5 shims tightened it back up,job done.
Dont sweat to much dude most things are easily done with a haynes and some swearing!.
Good luck.
;)

Cheers fellas, yeh ill try tightening the hub first as ive got a proper boy spanner now as aposed to a hammer and chisel I used last time :D if not then ill try a shim. As for the welding, im not sure weather to just plate over the hole or buy the body mount bracket and weld it on as the hole is just wherf the mount braket meets the sill. But imagine it would be a pain in the hoop to remove the body mount bolt.
