MOT to do list

MOT testers like the brake to hold after 3 clicks, leaving 2 in reserve.
However on an old landy, with a worn drum / shoes, this can lead to partial binding in my experience. It's a debatable point I guess.
I usually adjust mine up to 3 clicks for the MOT, then back it off to 4 clicks.
MOT UK car and vehicle MOT information equipment car servicing parts and spares - parking brake dont say about 3 clicks on there but i know the rave cd does.Might be worth a gamble.

right next on me to do list is the leaking exhaust. Now i think its leaking from the joint of the manifold and the down pipe or the down pipe its self see pic

Now i dont wanna buy the whole pipe as its around 60+ quids, can i just repair the joint or patch it some how?

Very tempting but im thinking of some sort of sealant. Is there an o ring or something like that which would have perished in the joint between the manifold and the down pipes?

it appears to be leaking from the joint its self so paste sounds more feasible.Suppose i best clean the pipes before applying it!

right axhaust is fixed now sticking brakes. They pull to the right.Does this suggest a sticking left caliper or over active right one?:jaw::crazy_driver:

Yup, I would say front too. does it not say on the failure sheet if its front or rear balance thats out. If not then I guess they only test front balance.

Bear in mind as well as being a sticky it could be low hydraulic pressure (buggered master, kinked/blocked lines) but sticky pistons win the most likely prize.

the failure sheet sez that it affects steering and not much else that i can remember. It had stood for a time before the test so im leaning towards sticky piston(and i think i can sort that), the fluid seems ok and at the right level.Thats me weekend sorted anyway.

ave you tried a good few very hard applications of the brakes ? - get them nice and hot and do a few 40 mph to zero stops to try getting whatever is sticky freed off ?

all done in a safe manor on a private road of course

yep tired that, although only on a direct route to me mot testing station of course, only 4 mile round trip so not quite shaken the cobwebs loose yet.
