my series 3 lwb station wagon passed its mot yesterday, hoorah! Apart from the usual advisories such as oil leak and chassis corrosion there was one for the front near side indicator bulb was dim. Obviously I check things like the lights before I take it for its mot and they seemed alright to me. The indicators are led's and it is my understanding that LED's either work or they don't. So if it was a poor contact causing some resistance, the bulb wouldn't work at all. Anyway, it's always a relief when it passes and this is the last one I need officially.

Don't understand a dim LED light either mate. Over the moon it passed for you though. Nowt worse than that sinking feeling when you get a list a mile long the that tells you its buggered!!! !oh! And no more mots again! Lucky bugga

If it looks the same as all the others I shouldn't worry but you can always go over all the earth connections, clean them up and give them a bit of grease.

Foggy lens cover??

Congratulations on the pass btw. I love the irony of glossing over "oil leak and chassis corrosion", to start a discussion about a dim indicator- only on a land rover forum! :D:D

I've managed to get it through 3 passes first time now so the shock isn't as great as it was the first time. My mot inspector is an experienced man and I think he understands older classics. It is amusing though watching him trying to manoeuvre it into the tight mot bay, he looks like he needs a lie down by the time it is on the lift. As far as I am concerned oil leaks and chassis surface corrosion is all part of life for a series, in fact, not just the series.

I sometimes think they pass it because they don't want me to ask them to fix it.
