Evening all.

Not been on here for a while, had my Discovery TD5 for 13 years or so, managed all the usual problems together some unusual faults.
Had to go to a new mot station as my normal garage owner has retired. Failed on a few things and a to do list which looks like the dead sea scrolls.

A minor defect is listed as :- Suspension arm ball joint cover severely deteriorated offside front lower (antiroll bar hydraulic ram lower rose joint)

Any idea what this may be as I cannot find anything wrong. Just done the steering ball joint dust covers top and bottom on both sides, good fun but you would not want to do them every week.

Thanks Frank

I see the post says I am a new member, I am a very old member just not posted for many years.

Is yours Ace??

If so, it may be the rubber seal?

Yes I have ACE, kept it going because I like it, did replace these boots a few years ago, I will take a look tomorrow. The garage I went to is a small country set up, they do many 4wd so I thought if it was ACE it would be described as is.

One of the failures was the Fuel Pressure Regulator, took it of just now and waiting for new gaskets/o,rings, this is also good fun!!

Many thanks for reply.

The word "ram" gives it away.

Got a rear for 60. so got a tatty rear in garage, a decent front in garage, spare ram in garage, spare solenoid in kitchen ready to fit

If you didnt refit the FPR yet remove and clean with carb cleaner or something similar the gauze filter which is under the small o-ring in the head, nr 13

Thanks for info gentlemen, especially Si ----- fery, unit has been off and reinstalled using lots of joint sealer hylomar or silicoln, it was everywhere so may be in the filter, will take a look.

I do not have Nanocom but do have a icarsoft reader which does the supension, used it a few times and did a shuttle valve bypass a little while ago. Most of the engine I can figure out ho ho!

Going to check the ace ram later.

Looking forward to pics of what you use the solenoid to do in your kitchen!
Opening the oven door when you have a big hot dish in your hands? Or know you are going to be taking one out?
Wish we had one here, the blessed thing is always threatening to fry the back of my left hand when taking a roast out!
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

it is sitting next to 10 3D resin mineral wagons curing in the sunlight

Well it looks like the rose joint on the bottom end of the ace ram, dust cover looks like new on the outside but is a little perished on the inside, used a mirror to see it. hardly a big issue!
Has anyone managed to draw this out using stud iron and a socket over the joint, not sure it would work after 20 years in situ.
Otherwise strip it down, does not look so bad to do.

What do you think?

Just had another look, bush is fine no play at all, just need to find the correct dust covers so easy job I guess.
