MOT fail

I NEED some advice please.Itook the delivery of a FL2 from a landrover dealership the vehicle is landrover approved.Now it come to my attention that the dealers tested the vehicle on the 28,10,17 and it failed because of a break light.On the sheet was 2 advisorys 1 was the water jets for windscreen partially blocked and the other was oil on the under tray SUSPECTED ENGINE BAY LEAK.sEEMS THE VEHICLE WAS RETESTED AND THE LIGHT FIXED AND THE WATER JETS CLEANED the only advisory on the sheet was oil leak in engine bay.Should this have been addressed before it was released to me ???

They are only advisories, washer jets are a five minute zero cost job, oil leak on the other hand would be somewhat more expensive.

i know this my question was should they have addressed the oil leak and find out exactly what it was before releasing it

I'm sure if every garage sorted every land rover with an oil leak they'd never sell anything

Take it bay to them, all used vehicles from a garage have a three month warranty

and the mot certificate i requested as no mention of this advisory but the original one does on the website checker

its not that easy they are 150 miles away but i have made them aware that i know about this.Do you think its there responsibility to sort it out ??

all faults found within 6 months are deemed to have been there at purchase. If you are not happy, get them to fix it, or ask for your money back.

one of the probs of buying from 150 miles away.

I have a Disco 1which when MOT'd failed on a few things and had an advisory regarding one of the rear tyres being devoid of tread on the outside edge.
I sorted the things it failed on and also had the offending tyre changed, although it wasn't a fail.
After the motor was retested, the advisory for the tyre was still there.

In relation to yours it might just be a mistake, the oil may be due to not being wiped after an oil change, but for peace of mind might be worth checking. How's the oil level?

Even so, what does your warranty say about gaskets / seals leaking?

is it covered by warranty? i doubt it.

yes - they will, but not necessarily foc.

As you have the Land Rover approved warranty,

the book stating what's covered under the warranty will be in it.
But don't expect a second hand vehicle to be brought up to a new standard.
Always a good to bring up anything your not happy with before offering up your cash. I believe just to get a sale, it's possible that a dealer would have the work done FOC.

Probably because they only look at the fails on a retest?
