Just putting feelers out to see who would be interested in a trip to Morocco.
Last year we met up in a camp site in Algacerias. Some of us met up on route on the way down. The general idea would be down through the Atlas mountains towards Agadir then down on the Plage Blanch. ( The white beach) then back up again. A final route is still to be worked out but something like Agadir - Mirleft - Sidi Ifni - Bou Jerif - Tafnidilt - Jebel Guir - Guelmin - Sidi Ifni
So far MrNasty; james6546. Oldun and I have expressed an interest. We have been discussing the trip on the Morocco 2016 thread.

Just looking at driving across France vs getting a ferry from Portsmouth to Spain and it looks like the ferry is a better option as it works out cheaper due to the toll costs of 122!euros each way. I irrationally adverse to paying any form of perceived tax.

Portsmouth to Spain by ferry is a bit cheaper but there is nothing like the quiet open roads of France after all the hassle in the UK.
On the subject of the route in Morocco it may be better to discuss this by email so PM sent to all with my email address - I broadly go along with what Mike says about the route though would like to add in a bit of sand driving - in addition to the beach - and also do the gorge we missed a little last time around.

Sounds good Ken. Will your sand driving be passable this time.(LOL) I did enjoy it though.
 
I kind of like the idea of the channel tunnel, mostly cause I get sea sick. Depends how much cheaper it is though
 
I'll stick with the ferry to Spain, and meet up with you guys at the camp site in Spain. Just saves on boring motorway time and having have convulsions at every toll.

To be honest I don't mind either way, I have done both.

The motorways in france are boring, though I might be able to see over the sides in my Land Rover.

It is a bit of a hard slog in a Land Rover but if you take it steady with a stop over on route it can be quiet pleasant, especially if your in a convoy with another vehicle. I have just checked the Michelin route planner. Its 23 hours on the toll roads and 28 on the national roads. I think it will take longer on the toll roads than 23 hours as you will not be cruising as quickly as a car. Time wise I don't think at the end of the day it's going to be much quicker. Which ever takes your fancy. I have about a 20 hour drive from where I live in France.

I was just thinking about being nackered on the return journey home too, all I have to do is get up to Santander, 600 odd miles, and have a kip on the ferry back.

My 110 td5 almost dare I say it, seems quite civilised on the mothorways with regards to noise.

Sure your not a bit deaf? They must be a great improvement on the 200 TDI.
 
I guess it's the soundproofing and carpets, plus except when it idles the td5 is quieter than the 200 tdi, not that it matters once in the sand pit.
 
Engine is certainly a bit loud also on the 300 but somehow you don't hear it when trying not to get stuck. Done a provisional route based on Mike's ideas plus the sand, and will go into more detail by email tomorrow - problem is how to attach the route itself by email - may have to give lots of waypoints at each junction so it can be followed on google earth!!.

Mine should be ok, I am fitting a disco transfer box. Plus a lot of soundproofing!

I will probably side with the majority on chunnel or ferry.

I know 2015 is a guys trip and 2016 is the WAGS one, but is it ok if I bring my partner? I think she would have fun. Don't worry if not, she is coming on the 2016 one.

Absolutely no problem with bringing your partner along or even your mistress.. Last trip Chris brought Rachel along and I believe she enjoyed the trip. We enjoyed her company. We need someone to keep us all organised.
 
we are still planning a route, or should I say Ken is doing all the leg work here. I'm thinking along the lines of making this something like a three week trip which will include Easter. That would mean you will have two Bank Holidays plus your holiday to make up approximately three weeks. That would allow you a couple of days travelling down and back from Spain. Then the rest in Morocco. Nothing is set in concrete so this is up for discussion. What's everyone's thinking on this?
 
Sounds good to me, especially now Sarah is coming, so I wont get into trouble for using all of my time off up.

I done know anything about morocco, so I'm just going along with what everyone agrees r.e. the route.
