Re vehicle prep; make sure your shocks and springs are up to the job.
I boiled and blew my rear shocks on day 1 in the desert, and they were 3 year old Pro Comps.

Pleased to report my three year old Pro Comps survived the trip and are still OK. With all the gear we had in our 110 I think we must have been the heaviest Landy on the trip with 80 liters of diesel in Jerry cans, 104 bottles of beer, 108 liters of Avian drinking water, 2x 35 liters of washing water plus food supplies for two weeks.

Gave mine a bit of a servicing this morning. Changed the air filter. Had to poor the sand out of the filter and clean out the bung hole. Also changed oil and filter.
Seems to be running much freer now and less smoke.
