Monty's Penarth - Parts company NOT to use

I would just like to place my absolute disgust in the 'so-called' Land Rover parts company, Monty's Penarth Ltd. in Barry.


I recently have been looking for a parcel shelf for a 3 door Freelander MK1. Monty's said they had one and sent it the next day (very good so far).

Turns out they sent the wrong parcel shelf (the roller blind one for the 5 door) even though they had a clear description of my Landrover. (Then the fun starts). After about 9 phone call throughout the day to the company, I finally got through to someone who said he would check the stock for a replacement, and send it by courier for delivery Monday morning - said he would call back in 30 mins to confirm. Never called.

So I called back, about 5 times the next day, no answer. I emailed my enquiry to them - "do you have the part? Is a courier coming Monday morning?" - no answer.

So I take the morning off work, and I phone the company, just to confirm the courier is coming that morning. Apparently it is. Brilliant.

I wait...

and wait...

its now 2pm.

I ring up Monty's, asking where the courier is? they say he'll definitely be there soon.. ok...

It gets to 3.30 - i decide its time to take some action, I ask for the parcel number and the courier company.

Turns out the courier was booked at 3pm that day - so wasn’t going to arrive till the next day.

Now I’m not one for complaining, but this company has overwhelmed me with the bulls*it and lies they have been spouting off. I am amazed that I have had to do all the leg work to sort their mistake out.

Its not on, and I would urge caution before anyone uses this company for parts.
 
I would also now like to add, that its 4 weeks later, and I still have not recieved my refund from Monty's, despite calling 3 times and being reassured each time that 'a cheque was sent today'. Absolute cowboys.

I think you are the Monty you refer to and just looking for free publicity.
Reason being - this would seem to be your first posts on the forum and you didnt want to post an obvious spam advert. Well done you.
I'm now going to stand back and watch the smoke come out your ears.

its a search injun optimisation technique.
Post a thread about some ones reg, say A123 BCD, about how the cut you up at a roundabout on the way to work or summit.Wait about an hour an then google the reg, the post will be one of the search returns.People getting results might not read the post just recognise the name(or in my example the reg)
 
I gave a wry smile when I read your comments on Monty's of Penarth.

We took a Smart car in because we were told they specialised in them. They quoted "around £2,500 + vat for a list of jobs.

After many weeks and non-returned phone calls they tried to screw us out of far more money but I stood firm and we compromised.

After threatening to reject any work and leave them with the car, a final price was agreed and we sent our workshop manager to collect but car was not ready. They delivered that evening but with the horn not working and hanging off and a new MOT. How in the world did they wrangle that ?

I believe they thought we were mugs. They have no idea of customer service and kept putting the phone down on us when we would not play their game. We were overcharged substantially for some components. I will be staying well clear of these people in the future.

:argue: Do not use this company they are a con, they will tell you they have the part you require, take your money via a card and that will be all you here you will not get any parts and will take weeks and tens of phone calls to get a refund, I had to threaten them with the police for theft.

My Story: I got in touch with them via 1st choice spares (google search) and they were very plausable sounded like they knew what they were talking about, said they were Rover dealers or were, they said they recontioned these engines and had one in stock and would dispatch it to me in France within three days, two weeks later no engine, I called them and they said they only sent it two days ago I asked for the courier company and tracking number they said they sent it via Palletways I called Palletways and guess what never heard of them, called them back, they said oh we deal with Palletways Barry (South Wales) I called them! yes you guessed it they had no such consignment, I called back again asking them for the truth this time and the Guy who owns the company (Andrew) no surname wouldn't give it hung up on me. I then called back and got one of his monkeys who just repeated what he said so I told them I no longer required their engine and wanted a full refund £675.00 I was initially told no but when threatened with trading standards and the Police for fraud they agreed to refund my money in full, however this then took weeks as they again said they had refunded it via the card machine and that it was not their fault, I then contacted the bank who put it into their fraud department only then did I get a refund into my bank of all days a 'Sunday'. SO IF YOU WANT TO HAVE LOTS OF STRESS, HASSLE AND NO PARTS AND POSSIBLE LOSS OF MONEY USE THESE CON ARTISTS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED :scratching_chin:
