I have had a oil leak from my diff ever since recall. After numerous visits back to garage I am told that the oil is coming from my breather pipe and that they are going to fit a modified one as mentioned in some Land Rover Bullitin. Has anyone heard of this???

I've also had a leak which coincided with my front propshaft/differential 'enhancement' and I'm wondering if mine has the same problem.

Back in May 2007 there was a bulletin that covered this. With reference to the diagram below, the straight edge on the differential breather adapter must be facing forwards towards the front of the vehicle.

The bulletin advises that the breather pipe adapter cannot be reorientated in the differential housing without damaging the housing and therefore the complete differential must be replaced!

Sounds likely. My oil is coming out of breather and dripping onto oil cooler then onto the top of the diff casing. If the breather can only be fitted one way without damage then how could it be in the wrong position after diff mod??
