cant even get a quote on line and can be a struggle on the phone,98 110 50k annual mileage,no mods (it left the factory with the winch etc fitted) oh and no left hand, its normally at this point the screen/phone goes dead, despite passing my test in a standard car and holding a normal licence and when i tell them i operate excavaters of between 50 and 220 tons in weight it seems to make the quote worse, id be happy to pay what some of you regard as excessive

I'm 19 and always been with NFU, they sting you as a young driver but my 90 is declared as big tyres, soft top 300Tdi conversion etc and they have no problems rang them yesterday to ask about fitting some mods i have (roll cage, sus lift, winch bumper etc and that won't affect my price either. They were gonna let me put a rover 3.5 into my series for no extra cost either :) However, I went to insure a disco i bought as a run around a few days ago, declared sus lift, wheel spacers, bigger tyres, tank and steering gaurds, winch bumper and it's been tuned etc and valued it at half the value of my 90 and they wanted £2,000! I pay less than half that for my 90...thats the problems with computer systems i guess!

I'm with the NFU.

As you say any non performance mods are ok and dont effect the premium.

But i have found over the last 3 years (even though they give you a mutual reward discount as well as your NCD) it has gone up just over £100.

In the 1st year it was for anydriver over 30.
2nd year was me and 2 named drivers.
Now in the 3rd year its just me and its still £100 more than 3 yrs ago.

200tdi, 38yrs young and never made a claim in the 21years I've passed me test.

and its still £260 fully comp & protected

Find the best quote elsewhere and then ring up NFU and tell em that you don't want to change companies but unless they are prepared to be competitive you will be left with no choice. They'll usually get to within about £20 of the best quote.;)

I'm doing mine again tomorrow.:D:D:D
