p38 hp24eh to fit lt230.

now dave at ashcroft informs me two ways to do this..pay hom 275 or..
strip end cover off hp24 replace with end cover off hp22 from classic, chop off end of hp24 output shaft, drill and tap to allow hp22 extension to fit..

now the issue i see here is..(MAYBE)..the p38m hp24 output shaft has a bearing in the output cover whereas the hp22 classic box dont...

now without this bearing ,(which is a needle roller which slides over the output shaft sitting on the park cog) the output shaft can wobble around..ie its not held in place..

what i need to know is..on the classic hp22 can the output shaft also wobble around and is held "solid" by the fact that it sits in the input gear of the lt230 only..OR does the governor hold it in place...???

HP24 P38..you can see bearing inner on output shaft..this HAS TO GO TO MAKE FIT LT230

hp24 p38 with output extension on..not cut output shaft yet or shortened extension..

pic of classic hp22 minus goveror..note no bearing supporting shaft

heres pic of missing bearing..ie this is in hp24 FOR p38..but not in classic..its in the gearbox extension/end cover..p38 has.classic does not..IS IT NEEDED? or does the lt230 input gear do the same job?

ok..got info about missing part from hp22 and also spoke to dave at ashcrofts..dont need bearing, as output shaft is held central by lt230..just as i had hoped..

so tomorrow out with disc cutter..

rather conviently hp22 picked up from fett has a perfect one on it..
