Hi, im new to the group and i need some help becuase i am beginning to
renovate a 2.4 litre mk1 toyota hi-lux and hopefully also soup it up.

I'm having trouble finding "performance parts" not just stock replacement
parts, since im going to change the engine as soon as i can i was wondering
which engines would be suitable for it? ive heard of 3.0l supra engine swaps
but never actually seen any evidence, expense isnt really an issue since
this is a long term project that im willing to put the time, effort and of
course cash into, since i have my rather pants 1.4 escort for day to day
journeys i can take it off the road for quite some time, so if anyone could
please point me in the direction of:

Good 4x4 magazines available in the UK
Good info websites for hi-lux's and parts

Anything you may think would be of any use to me!

Thanks very much for any and all info you can take the time to provide, its
really appreciated!

Ford V6 motor fits a treat, was a common conversion in SA. Will require
adaptor plate for the gearbox though.

Hmm out of which model? since there are alot of ford v6 engines and where
can I get the adaptor plate? or will I have to get one made which I imagine
will be very expensive! Also what does SA mean, south africa?

Are there any decent web sites/business's you can point me in the direction
of, that have the v6 engine in stock, also does it have allot of after
market parts that are readily accessible, at the moment I just want a good
high performance stainless steel exhaust system and back box to compliment a
new engine once I have finished renovating the body, I know I'm skipping
several steps but I want to know how much I have to spend and also create a
plan, since I will be doing an online journal of the work on the hi-lux and
guides to help people who have similar projects.

I've also seen a rover v8 conversion plate for a Toyota hi-lux on ebay but I
was too late to bid, what sort of work would need to be done to the engine
bay to mount a rover v8? since I have both arch and mig welders that I'm
quite nimble with if I need to weld/cut mounts for it.

Thanks very much!

Thanks! That's most of the cosmetics done, now I need to find a place that
does tuning parts, at the moment i really need a big bore exhaust system
with a nice back box if anyone can help with that, do you think the 2.4
diesel is worth tuning or should I go ahead and get a ford v6/rover v8? I
know the v8 has allot of potential, but I know little about the 2.4 or ford
v6 that was mentioned.

Literally ANY tuning info on the 2.4 or v6 would be great, since i'm not
sure realistically how much it would cost to insure it with a v8.

Thanks again!

hello If it was me then i would get teh bits from the USA as the rate to teh
USD is very good :) PLUS they do a lot beter kits for the price then we
could do over here.
if u from la spuer trax he knows/does v8 conversions etc

Engine side if it will be used as a show type truck then GO FOR THE V8 as
it would look better etc, if ur going to hard core 4x4ing then diesel is the
way to go

Hope this helps
