Hello All,

Quick mechanical question for those who have a better understanding of gearing than my limited experience.

My TD5 recently lost 4th gear for a wee while. Happy changing up 1st, 2nd to 3rd, grinding when attempted into 4th, but happy from 3rd straight to 5th. Changing down it was happy 5th-4th-3rd with no issue.

I stopped at some lights, and was able to slot back into 4th with no issues after that, but had to then head away from home for work for a few weeks. Wondering if its going to need a trip to the garage when i get home or just keep truckin? Any diagnosis / opinions welcome.

Thanks in advance.
Shroom.

could be a worn baulk ring or synchro hub spring ,or the bearing between the input and mainshaft worn ,personaly i would get box repaired before it damages other parts,if it is bearing it will bugger the rest of box eventually
