Hi all, i am halfway through a rebuild of my 1994 300tdi 90 and it has ground to a halt. I got it about 3 years ago and then while looking for my first job after uni decided to take it to bits and rebuild it. that was about 8 months ago. it is now sat in my in-laws garage stripped back to the chassis. the problem is i don't really get the time to work on it, especially with it not even being stored at my house. (can currently be doing 12 hour days 7 days a week)
to make things worse the missus has now decided she doesn't really feel safe in it and would prefer a discovery (or if i can find a cheap enough newer defender). i have no idea why, its only had a few minor faults:
--power steering system sprang a leak and lost all fluids in about a minute driving through heavy traffic
--pulley fell off so the belt came off on the motorway = loss of steering and cooling blowing the hose off the radiator (luckily had jerry cans of water to get me to a garage)
--accelerator stuck on in heavy traffic sending me speeding down the high street (the little plastic grommet that goes through the bulkhead got jammed)
so my question is - if i strip and sell it in bits roughly what is the return (all straight panels, great engine, no headlining or original seats, chassis tidy)?
also, what do i have to do regarding selling chassis, engine etc and informing the dvla?
and finally, if i got a 300tdi discovery - which bits are worth saving from my 300tdi 90 for future repairs/improvements?
cheers guys
