Lug nut cover removal tool?

Hi, in my manual (td5 XS 2003) there's a picture of a lug nut cover removal tool and a special socket to remove the lug nut. I assume the covers are for theftprotection and looks since they have a slight play. I don't have these tools.
The removal tool look like this:

Seems that some previous owner didn't either and have used a 27mm socket which has slightly deformed the covers. This means that I now have to use a 28mm socket to remove the wheels.

Does anyone have the same problem?

I believe the caps are actually attached and you can't remove them. The problem is that the surface under the caps rusts and they swell, hence the 27mm socket not fitting.

It's pretty cheap to buy new nuts, that's what I did.

That removal tool is only for use if you have the locking wheel nut set (one nut per wheel),you use it to remove the cover so that you can fit the locking wheel nut key to the actual nut itself (which is cylindrical in shape when the cover is removed). If you can remove all 5 nuts on each wheel with a 27/28 mm socket then you don't have locking nuts fitted and therefore don't need that tool

You can only remove the cap with the dimple in it covering the anti theft nut. Either carry on using the 28 mm socket or buy new nuts. http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-ANR5436

That bloody tool only works when vehicle is relatively new, poxy design!
