The Jatco box is able to take the torque from any Freelander engine. It's rated for 300NM iirc. The problem comes from the Freelander not having enough power to pull a heavy load fast enough for the torque converter to lock up. If TC lock up doesn't happen the box fluid will heat up. This would be worse on the TD4 as it's a complete wimp. I've towed 2 tons behind my V6 many times without drama although I do have to use all the engines power to get the speed up to achieve TC lock up.
