Hi all. As above. When I turn left or right while pulling out of junctions etc....there is a big bang coming from the transfer box. It's like the diff is locked on. Is this a common fault as the differential is only supposed to lock in when operated by the pull lever under vacuum, and release when pushed down. Because it is integral to the gearbox, is it repairable in position, or does the whole unit have to come out?

Thanks in anticipation.

I can only answer one of your questions -

When i changed the transfer ratio on my lt95 (101fc) the cluster just dropped out the bottom.

In that, certainly a lot (if not all?) is accessible without removing the box.

diff is vac operated both ways and once in stays in or out unless ttheres a good vac to move it ,easy enough to check by jacking one front wheel up ,if wheel turns its not in lock if it doesnt it is,the very first rrc had limited slip center diffs which could be locked, the center diff can be removed in situ ,but difflock mechanism is in the front output housing

Thanks guys. I guess I'll try the front wheel off the ground test. If the wheel won't turn, then it's probably stuck on and causing trans wind up. I'll have to explore returning the vacuum to the vacuum unit and hope that sorts it....

On my 101, one of the lines to to the lock perished - the lock was on, but the vac to pull it the other way was not there.

IIRC, i just went under, and swapped over the lines, to pull the dif lock off again.

In this, swapping over the lines would make the dif lock, when the control commanded it to unlock. I dont know if the RR control is the same as the 101, but id suspect it was similar?
