Ok..reverse gear on my 2.5 N/A 90 (1984) is useless, jumps out all the time..so..

I've bought a LT77 from a discovery...are there any differences i should be aware of?

Will the transfer box from mine fit straight on?

Will drop a new clutch in...anything else??

Cheers..

Yu are better off with Disco T box and defender G Box
it aint an easy swap. input shaft is longer on Disco and gearlevers are all in the wrong place.

Won't make any difference, the 2.5 and the 200tdi sit in the same place, the input shaft on the LT77 from a Disco will be much longer, the LT77 you have at the moment will have a bell housing about 8inches long, and an input shaft to match, the one on the disco is over a foot long. You would need to reposition the engine much further forward leading to more complications and things hitting things and pipes would need to be shortened.

Options - you could swap the input shafts if you were feeling mechanically up to it. or you could source a Defender box... what else...

Engine from a Disco or a Defender will do (although a 300tdi doesnt have the problem with the turbo hitting the footwell which then requires you rotate the turbo or alter the pipework), it's the gearbox that matters.
