Any one tell me the output shaft speed on an LT85 110 gearbox please?
Is the box used in any other vehicles and is it the transfer box that gears it down for the large rolling radious wheels.
Thank you.:)

transfer box your v8 going slow like mine 1.4 on defender

* 1.410 ratio defender
* 1.211/210 disco
and 1.6 on some military ones I believe
and also differing diff ratio's

oooh ta.
What I was wondering was that if one was to connect a prop direct to the back axle from the gearbox (in theory) then would it be very high geared?
Thinkin about stickin an LT 85 in me kit car but it's got a 3.4 jag diff and may be it'll be too slow.:confused:

Santana box limits your options
The diff will most likely only be either 4.7:1 Series diff or a standard 3.54:1 and you should be able to tell the difference between them using the prop revolutions: 10 wheel revs will either produce 35 or 47 prop revs.

Lt77 would be a better candidate as there are some rear wheel drive versions floating around

Is the Santana lower geared on the output shaft than the LT77 then? I have both but only the Santana will fit the V8 without spending money:rolleyes:

I believe it is,lt77 a nice smooth box for cruising-also weight of the vehicle will affect your ratio choice
Land Rover gear ratios main page and
Land Rover gear ratios worth a look

So it's direct in 4th so wheels will be turning at just over 1700rpm at 6k revs which is ??? mph if 13" wheels with high profile tyres.

must have an hour on this, I have rolling radious chart somewhere.

You just makin work for me aint yer:D

yea my 90 has a theoretical top speed of 148MPH with my gearing pitty the 200tdi cant pull it. Must finish refurbing my 4.7 ratio axles asap!

some of the xj6 and tvr had lt77 if I remember rightly as well.
May just be a bell housing swap on jag, but not sure on input shaft.

lt85 doesn't like quick changes-agricultural

Wont need to change gear with the V8:D

LT77 was a Jaguar box it has stronger internals I believe, SD1 Rovers had the LT77 box as did some sherpa vans I had 2 but Junked them after trying to give them away. Landy has no support on the output shaft and relies on the transfer box to support the gearbox output shaft.
