That's no surprise, but also explains why so many Tratters are in such poor condition where maintained by their ownerso_O

eta I use the word maintained loosely

Even manufacturer dealers are hard to trust, I had in the past one accredited dealer telling me they had changed the timing belt on a major service and that is why it was so costly, the vehicle didn't have a belt but did have a chain which wasn't and didn't need changed.
Another who said that the disc and pads needed changed on a fiesta and suddenly backtracked when I turned up to ask them what was wrong with them as they looked absolutely perfect to me, the wife had picked up the car from the service.
Another who had forgot to tighten up the wheel nuts and I got round the first corner after picking it up and the NS front wheel fell off.
Tools left in the engine bay, things not picked up, misdiagnosis, the list goes on and is the reason I prefer to simply fix things myself, even on modern cars that I don't really have any interest in working on.

I prefer to work on mine as well, when we were in the UK it was because I didn't trust most garages, now in France I have plenty of time so it's just turned into a bit of a hobby,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and of course it saves the pension.
