Hi to one and all!!

New'ish to this forum so saying hello. :)

My name is Phil, retired and living in South Bedfordshire with my wife. We are keen caravaner's and we own a Freelander V6. Its a great towing vehicle, plenty of power and is a recognised 'match' for pulling our size of caravan.

Have a question if anyone can help. We are thinking of having LPG fitted to the Freelander. Does anyone have any practical experience of this? Its going to cost over £1000 so any info would be most welcome. We know about the cost savings of petrol against LPG but what about engine performance - is there any power loss for instance?

Thanks in advance,

Phil.

Hi Freelaner!!

Thank you for that comment. No, I didn't know that. Do you see that as a problem, is there a danger. The car has 2 large electric fans attached to the rear of the radiator, I assume from standard but the temperature gauge on the dash board does not move from its '9 o'clock' position.

Generally speaking running a vehicle on lpg will raise the running temperature slightly - add this to an engine that suffered with overheating problems is not a great idea - that said if there are no leaks and regular coolant level checks are carried out there should be no major issues - the engines normally over heat because there is a lack of coolant / cooling fans not working.

the temp guage is on the output from the radiator and as much use as a oiuja board at ascertaining the temp of the engine.:( the fans get there cue from another temp sensor at the same point so it has to get dangerously hot before they engage.

i'm not saying don't do it but merely do your homework and check it regulary ;)
