Lower Tailgate Switch Not Working L320 Sport 2008

I'm fairly sure that if you hold the lock & unlock buttons on the dash down together for a couple of seconds, the tailgate will release, otherwise you need diagnostics (or someone with diagnostics) to issue the command to the BCM

Assume valet mode isn't switched on?
No idea what valet mode is or how to switch it on and off. I do have an issue with the service key not working so could this be also linked to that mode?

Does the radio work? Can you open the glove box? Valet mode locks these also. I would expect it's accessed by the touch screen settings, but I've never owned a sport
Yes they both work so it can't be that then.
2008 L320 didn't have it.

The rrs doesn't have a valet mode/switch
2008 is a 'Gen 1', so essentially the same as a L319 in terms of tech., the L322 was already well into it's second iteration by the time the L320 was launched.
BTW, I had many happy days at Gaydon with some of the pre-production vehicles - especially the 4.2SC variants, I think the record was sixteen in a row on the M40, all using adaptive cruise control at a speed I cannot recollect enough to type....
There's a couple of bridges that echo the exhaust note very well around there too, oh, don't turn off the DSC whilst someone else is driving without telling them before they throw it into the mini-roundabout at the entrance to Gaydon Village....
