HERES ANOTHER ONE FOR ALL OF YOU,
JUST ON ANOTHER FREELANDER SITE AND THE LATEST THERE IS CHECKING THAT YOU HAVE A PLASTIC CLIP ON YOUR BOTTOM RAD HOSE,
AS THE HOSE EXPANDS WITH HEAT/PRESSURE IT CAN CHAFF ON THE SUMP GUARD ATTATCHMENT LIP(APPARENTLY ITS PRETTY SHARP SO BE CAREFULL)THE CLIP ATTATCHES TO A SMALLER PIPE AND YOURE RAD PIPE .. KEEPS IT AWAY FROM THE SUMP GUARD... MINE IS ATTATCHED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RAD PIPE
DID YOU ALL KNOW ABOUT THIS ONE???

Just checked mine and it has also such a clip which is as you said attached to the smaller pipe which passes just above it.
