Well I've just got back from a 3 week holiday around Europe, in that time we have covered 2800 miles towing a caravan all the way. We have been in scorching 38 degrees in the south of France and below zero with snow in the Swiss alps. We have been on countless miles of motorway and up a mountain ( St Gotthards Pass in Switzerland ) in second gear for 15 miles or so! The temperature gauge never moved from normal once, I have not had to put in a single drop of oil or water, and the only failure I had was the aftermarket Map sensor pipe getting too hot after going up St Gotthards Pass and falling off which was repaired with a cable tie!
Just wanted say how much I love my freelander!!! :)
 
Brilliant.

I only did 2000 miles going up to Scotland in March with 2 bikes on the towbar.

They are very capable vehicles despite what done may say.
 
Wish I'd had my Freelander when we went over the Gotthard back in the late seventies when driving a Ford consul 2.5 litre and towing a caravan. Turned out they'd closed the pass due to heavy snow but being a bit thick I presumed the snow chain signs had been left over from the winter, thought the hard part was reaching the summit that was until we started our descent and the caravan jackknifed and nearly pushed us over the edge ( no barriers in those days just little posts) came all the way down at about two mph to find the barriers had been lowered stopping anyone else going up. Pleased after they'd built the road tunnel as were my Wife and children.

Sounds like a similar story to mine (02 TD4 3 Door)
Pepignan and back in June, no issue sat all wth a 250kg Trailer and Camping Gear :D
Next May, doing Belgium/Germany/over Dolomites into Italy 3 days lake Garda, then across to South West France for a big chill by the beach :cool:
