Losing power at 70

Hello,

HELP HELP HELP
My 5 year old Freelander after doing very well has decided to start losing power after about nearly an hour driving at 70 and coming to a complete standstill, an hour later it will start up again as if nothing has happened, this has happened a few times and the car has been relayed back by the AA. No lights come on, garage cant find any problems and are loath to change anything.
After reading pages and pages of other peoples similar problems
I authorised the garage to change the filter under the rear wheel for starters. There seems to be a lot of knowledge out there - has anybody found a definite solution.

Hi. I suppose you've already gonne through the sticky at the top?

No change after fuel pump change then.

If it stalls, it might be a good idea to search the forum for "hot start".

Be patient, someone more savvy in the ways of the freelander will come along

Wonder if the crank sensor is failing when it gets warm?

sounds like fuel evaperation due to heat/air locks

Thanks to those that replied, but after a week in the garage, with a new fuel filter fitted, they could not find anything wrong.

We broke down another 3 times after that and the last time was on the A14 which wasnt much fun. A lovely AA man came again and towed to a safe place and after doing the usual things like attaching the computer and looking under the bonnet, he finally found a switch that was not properly connected way down inside the engine, it was cutting the fuel off, just like switching the engine off. Thats why it was so intermittent, it cut off the fuel and then after an hour the memory was wiped clean and it would run again.

Could have been when it had a service??? problem started not long after, dont really know how it could have happened!
