The water pump was a regular failure item on the Imp with the result that the head gasket usually failed and/or the head warped. We used to race one, great fun and very tail happy on the limit.

Rootes who built a whole factoy from scratch just for the Imp. Another aluminium engined car ahead of its time,(where have we heard that one before)
Boring fact about it..the car had to be raised approx an inch in production because the indicators were too low for Dept of Transport inspectors...

spax adjustable and lowerd springs
998cc with janspeed exahust..

Got 50I of the stuff mate gives it to me for cleaning parts as they can't store it in garage after draining cleaning client cars...it costs them 65 cents a litre to get shot it's mostly diesel with 95 mixed in...

Folks used to put a bit of petrol in for a bit of extra poke and to help in the winter of i recall. I'm guessing that's before turbos and fancy pumps

Mainly to help with cold starting in well sub zero temperatures.

Not recommended on vehicles post about 1990.

Used to put 1gallon to a 50gallon tank of DERV to stop it waxing up in the winter, before the modern additives

It's still done in very cold weather although the latest diesels with ADDBLUE and all the emissions sensors don't like it, they run fine but flag a fault on one of the exhaust sensors.

We used to put it in tractors, but old ones with in line fuel pumps that would chew up pretty much anything.

Not had cause to use it for many years, the modern winter diesel seems to be quite up to the job in UK temperatures.
