Hi, after crashing my discovery 2 out here in Romania last week I'm going to be looking for a new one when I get back to the UK. Going to sell this one here as much as it hurts me, but no other choice.
So after a discovery2 2001-2004, with leather interior, ACE and air suspension, and a half decent chassis would be nice. Not bothered by alloys/tyres as I'm going to bring mine back... somehow, as I just put £500 tyres on before I left. Looking for something under £3500 preferably, but over considered :)

I'm going to be selling mine within a few weeks 2001 td5 sorry not leather
I just struggle to keep the fabric clean, I seem to get a fair bit of mud in mine
Plus heated/electric seats are a nice touch :p
Thanks for the mention though

Petrol or diesel, or either?

Mine wasn't. Used mostly on towing, and driven gently, the V8 returned good mileage. Electronic engine management and the sophisticated autobox works well.
And you save a fortune on the purchase price, so quite a bit to spend on fuel for starters.
I got the assumption a v8 will drink more than a td5, and alright I can get 28mpg out of mine on highways with luggage. And I get about 17mpg around town with my auto, but I have so many parts already bought for the td5 I think I'd stick with it.
Given the change of plan now, can get mine towed home for £350

...Is it for sale though? :p

I used to get about 20-22mpg out of the V8 towing a cattle trailer, and more at a steady 70 on the open road.

No, sold it last year. I had run it for 3 years, and still got not much less than I had paid for it. Most people assume that it will do terrible fuel mileage, like an old carburetted V8, so they don't sell nearly so well as the diesels. But they are a lovely drive, smooth and refined. Well worth a few quid on fuel.:)

You make a good point, I'll give you that ;)
Honestly I can agree on price, when ob ebay I scroll down, see a cheap nice looking disco, think oh great see its a v8 and carry on scrolling..
Couple questions if you don't mind..?
Is it still worth remapping them? and do they go well, cause my disco doubles as my sports car :p:p
Some parts seem cheaper, like the upgraded silicone coolant pipes were half the price, does this go for the majority of parts?
Most importantly, are they harder to work on than a td5 engine bay?

Thanks :)

No idea about remaps, I found it was more than adequate, personally I drive everything like there is an egg under the throttle, for fuel economy.

I only bought a few parts, like an idler pulley that broke up, as I remember they seemed reasonably priced, but as it was all business expenses, I never took much notice.

Also, because I am very experienced with mechanical stuff, and used to working on boats, which are horrendously cramped, I find all landrovers fairly easy to work on.

Hi mate, Just wondering, does it still have the leather interior and the other things I mentioned?
Yes it an es so got all the bells and whistles everything on it works except the front sunroof which I never could be arsed to mess with do sealed it.Its totally standard, still got egr no mods whatsoever,Got 143000 miles.no big dinks or scratches all the electrics work perfect ,done the and modulator and wiring update on the abs so don't get amigos .just had test till Jan 2019with no advisories.chassis is good, had 2 tiny bits properly repaired at the back but otherwise no rust.Ive owned it 6 years and it's been serviced to death, all good oils and filters, tyres done about 2k miles proper Dixon bate towbar fitted about 4 yours ago. Sounds good, so cruise control etc I assume and electric seats? I've got a spare...or 3 sunroofs. One thing I didn't ask, was it a manual or auto? Was there much difference between the 99-2004 models if you know, wasn't sure if they had the ACE etc. Sorry to hear about that, do try to take care of them, sometimes tree's just jump out on me though. How much were you looking for mate?

Everything on it works properly, although now I've said that you know the curse will come upon me!7 leather seats heated and electric at the front all good cruise works perfectly Aircon and climate perfect abs. ace asr hill descent suspension raise cd player (original alpine with HK amp and speaker s)Central locking etc etcTheres nothing on it that doesn't work as it left the factory.none if the wiring has been messed with , I out new discs and pads on last year new complete watts linkage all new steering links and joints no play in steering box Had 4 wheel tracking done same time new ps pump 2 years ago,new in tank pump last year and turbo modulator, new serpentine belt last year.only thing I think might need doing soon is change battery as it's not quite as fierce as it was still starts first time everytime whatever the weather but just not as instantly as it did.Having said all that I hope I don't get in trouble for putting all this instead of doing a for sale and but wasn't planning on letting it go until I absolutely have to it's auto and no probs with that either
