As @dieseldog69 mentions above, EDC parts availability is non existent now - especially #4 injector with the sensor. You can have one made, but I was told it's about a grand when mine failed
So .... I fitted standard pump, fitted it and a full width intercooler, and had it tuned - now have more power than EDC, and more reliability too.
As for rot, yep, BIG problem - and IME, the 3 door ones are worse than the 5 door ones. Body rot is the problem, but chassis rot won't be far behind - certain drain holes get blocked, and big problems follow shortly thereafter.
We run two D1's - I am going through them both as rolling resto's - they have both just passed their MOT's with clean tickets, and something of a "wow" from the tester due to their "amazing condition" - MOT testers words, not mine.
IMHO, if you can weld, then go for it, if you can't, then you either need to learn quickly, or look at another vehicle. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but it is my experience.
Japanese RE-imports are available from the likes of Algys Autos - no road salt in Japan, so they are in better nick, but they are still all 20+ years old, so some caution is advised.
