Hello
i am looking at getting another disco had one years ago but as i now have 2 kids and possibly taking on another 3 going to need more seats!!
ive looked at one the airbag light is on permanently and the autobox light eeps coming on is this serious? anything else to look out for? its a 1995 TDI auto ES.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks, Richard

I'd question buying something that old for regular family use. Yes they are good motors when they are running right, but you'd be better off upping your sights a bit, even a Disco 2 maybe.

Regarding the one you mentioned, I'd agree with Goonarmy, walk away.

i would seriously consider thinking of a different vehicle, cus a disco 1 will probs break down fairly often, and with that many kids i cant imagine having an unreliable family car is a good thing

Thanks for the advise i just dont know if i can see myself driving a galaxy every day! had a trooper fourtrack rangey and a disco in the past and thought it would be a good excuse to get another one

If you really want a landy then get one, cus nothing will compare, just make sure you get a good'un

Go for a landie just not theone with the probs, you'll love it and so will the kids, hours of family fun driving around in it and then a few more hours fixing it:D:D:D:D

Get the most basic spec. theres less to go wrong, I found a freelander without the ABS and HDC and i've never met the 3 amigos, never will.

Sounds like a plan!! what sort of money would i need to get a half decent one? looked at a jap import on a p plate but it was £38500

we had a 99 zafira and got rid for your 1995 tdi 300 best move we made. had my head under the bonnet after 2 weeks of owning it but just to fit the egr blanking plate. Anyways love it.

we had a 300 auto for 8 years never a hint of a problem, serviced every 4000 miles on semi synthetic engine oil, was as good on the day it went as when we bought it, down side rust, then had a pajero great little motor but economy not its strong point, now back with a td5 so far so good totally different to the 300 more go more room better handling better economy, hope this helps.

stay away from the disco mpi engine , (1993 to 1998) its too underpowered , struggles up hill with just me in it , and slows to ultra slow motion when the wife , kids and pushbikes are all on board, , theres something not right about dropping to low box to keep your speed up in a suburban road !

Get yourself a good basic spec 300 tdi, a late one with no sunroof etc, make sure it has a good service history and get the usual things checked i.e rust, electrics etc. Just make sure it comes from a good home and it's been looked after. There are loads about so you an be choosy.

ive got a 300 tdi auto 1999 T reg no sunroofs no abs no airbags its ace get it serviced regularly jet wash the underside every month its a comfy car and a van when needed and a minibus never had a problem with it love her to bits loads out there with good history and good bodies just be patient
