Hi,

I have a freelander TD4 2003 which I have put a lifting kit of 50mm on I have now found that one of my drive shafts have been damaged due to it being at maximum length when turning I would like to know if there is a drive shaft that is slightly longer to allow for the lifting kit? or is there a drive shaft that will fit the freelander that is slightly longer so it is not at full extension?

I've not heard of that before. When lifts are installed, the CVs stand a good chance of wearing prematurely, but not heard of other damage.

I know on some models post 2000 (ie TD4 and/or KV6) the 2 front drive shafts are not the same length. I don't know which is the longer, but are you sure it hasn't been replaced with one that's to short? Might be worth some research.

Is yours manual or auto?

As GG said. There's normally enough spare room in the standard shaft to accommodate a modest lift. Which side is damaged?

I had this issue with my 40mm lift. Had been supplied wrong shaft which fitted fine without lift but with lift kept pulling out.

I fitted a 50mm lift kit and the propshafts should be OK. Old boots might fail with the extra stress and stretching but new ones should be OK.
As Colin says you need to confirm you have the right propshaft.
And don't even consider buying cheap aftermarket drive shafts. The vibrations from them with a lift kit will shake yer teeth out. GKN only!!!

hi i still have the original drive shafts on the car but when i put it on full lock to the left or right there is a clicking noise
and when i get to 70 mph there is a lot of vibration
but does not have a problem with the passenger side

Have you used camber compensator bolts so the suspension alignment corrected?

Are all the tyres identical with least worn on the rear?
