WD40 is as it's name implies a water dispersant not a release agent, can't remember the proper name in English LOL but it's degrippant in French.
There is no throttle on a diesel ergo it will idle happily with the manifold off even if it has a MAF it would seem. Just don't try to rev it.

That may have been true a long time ago but times and products change Or so the manufacturer would have us believe?? Industrial Maintenance

That's a bit strong, but as RELEASE agents go, I agree there are things that work better, but chances are they won't be as good as WD40 at doing other things.

Try GT85 from Machine Mart, for a change.
It is excellent for an all-round maintenance fluid.

Most of these fluids are kerosene based, and anyone can make a pretty good release fluid from a mix of about 9 parts of kerosene (28 seconds heating oil) to one part cheap engine oil.

I find my oxy-acetylene torch and a 2 pound hammer loosens most things.

Right, now i am fully educated on penetration and lube, why the copper grease and where?

going out to buy the glow plugs today, worth changing as they will be 10years old anyways! might have to main dealer the manifold gaskets thou?

I would summise the Copper Grease is to be used on the Glow Plug Threads to prevent them from seizing up in the long run....

Copper Grease is very good for all high heat environments etc as the Copper Particles are not effected by heat and disipates it readily and do not distort under high heat input, thus they will slide about when it comes to unscrewing the item....

Copper Grease is very useful on Spark Plugs, Exhaust Nuts and Bolts, Wheel Nuts etc....as well as Glow Plugs.....

If you ever need to undo the Glow Plugs again, you will be pleased you smeared some CG on the threads....
