lom mpg and low power

i've got a 300tdi its quite sluggish and is only doing about 20 mpg could this be a turbo problem. there is oil in the air filter and it burbles when i change gear any help appreciated

Mine's exactly the same, around 20mpg and no power. My one is especially gutless when cold though..

I get 18mpg but it's definitely got some grunt

Manual or auto ?

hey shocker its a manual. my mate has a 110 with a 200tdi and it wipes the floor with me

A TDi manual gearbox Disco should deliver nearer to 30 mpg overall.

Give the car a full oils and filters service inc the air filter. Clean out the fuel sedimenter. Check tyre pressures 32psi front 36psi rear. Check to see if any brakes are dragging?

My 300 with manual box gave same signs, changing the fuel lift pump helped a lot with both performance and economy. Test it b by whipping off the hose on the output side and cranking the engine over on the starter - check the flow rate - mine was not flowing ANY fuel at all. Disconnect the stop solenoid on the injection pump to prevent the engine starting while you do this.
