Locking Nut Spinning

Hi All,
I have a discovery 3 2009 and the locking nut is spinning when I turn it with the key.
Any one else had this problem and can advise me of the best method to remove it?

I think i beat the small cap/collar off then drove a smaller socket on to remove it altogether.
When done 20 new cheap nuts off ebay and do away with the lockers, brave man to touch a d3 even when its asleep.

yup ive done th@t for 30 ye@rs when i h@d the g@r@ge peeps @lw@ys losing the lock nuts.
