Hi Hawky666,
I managed to build it so none of the wood touches the side of the vehicle at all, my first attempt did and it rubbed like a b...... so this time I managed to build it away from any metal lol, plus it helps by being on carpet. As for fixing it to the vehicle I've used a few long bolts and nuts but only two as there is enough weight in its self to stay put. I still have a few ideas so when I get time and more photos I will continue with updates.

Defender, if you can get them picked up from north yorkshire in about 4 weeks time I have 2 newish seats (gray check) that I will be removing from my 90 as I need to fit a gun box next to the bulkhead.
Try these, because they have a double hinge point they are great for getting over "problems"

Hi
Not sure if anyone is interested but I thought I would show how the back of my defender has come along since I bought her last September.
It has taken a lot of hard graft but worth it and I am quite chuffed as its my first attempt.
All in all it has cost me roughly £150
If anyone else has a before and after shot of their load space area I would be most interested so I can maybe improve on mine further.

Its cheap easy to bend carpet from carpet right... nothing fancy cost me £25 for quite a good amount and I sprayed it with glue, underneath the carpet is sound deadening so making it stick was easier, and the load area is a good quality Land Rover load liner that cost £90

The hinges are supposed to be on the outside, it's a defender.

Well, I could not resist mucking about with the new load area space... so I decided to remove the hinges, shame they left a bit of a mark but this will be covered with stickers from shows etc...
I also decided to buy some of the same carpet as before and cover the lids making for a very nice snug and quite fit.
I was so pleased with my efforts I went for a test drive and I can honestly say for once I have no sqeeks and rattles from the improved works ....
