It's not entrapment as long as it doesn't provide the exceptional opportunity to commit a crime. Ie, if you put a 50" plasma on a street corner to catch someone nicking, it's pretty exceptional (rare and unusual) so would be entrapment. A locked car with a sat nab in the window is quite common, therefore not entrapment. Police still use trap cars over here perfectly legally!!!

Problem is that if you rig your motor to protect itself... you lay yourself open to charges if the arsehole nicking it gets hurt!

I have lots of ways to restrict or inconvenience the thief... but nearly all of them would land me in court if hurt himself or anyone else as a result!
